Google Search is Getting ChatGPT Like AI Soon
According to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the tech giant plans to integrate conversational AI capabilities into its hugely popular search engine.
The move aims to improve Google's ability to process various queries through artificial intelligence improvements, according to an interview with The Wall Street Journal. Despite the presence of chatbots like ChatGPT and other business challenges, Pichai downplayed the possibility that chatbots could pose a threat to Google's search business, which generates more than 50% of its parent company's revenue.
During an interview on Tuesday, Pichai said the growth potential is even greater than before.
Google excels at creating Large Language Models (LLMs), which are computer programs that can interpret natural language queries and respond to them in human-like ways. However, the company has yet to use this technology to affect how people interact with search engines. Mr. Pichai confirmed that this will change soon.
He added that people will be able to ask questions on Google and interact with the LLM while conducting a search. This functionality will be integrated into the Google search engine.
After Microsoft had already implemented the technology behind ChatGPT in its Bing search engine, Pichai faced one of Google's biggest business challenges in recent years, coupled with pressure from investors to cut costs.
